Privacy notice

What this website collects when you visit or contact us, why, and the choices you have.

When you visit

We count visits to see which pages help.

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to count visits and see which pages and tools people use. PostHog sets a cookie and a matching entry in your browser's storage. Both hold a random ID, so we can tell a returning visit from a new one. The ID is not tied to your name or email.

With each page you view, and with a few actions such as opening the menu, using the cost estimate, or sending the contact form, PostHog records the page address, the site that linked you here, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and language. PostHog also receives your IP address and uses it to estimate your country, region, and city.

We do not record what you type into forms, and we do not record your screen. When you use the contact form, analytics records only the kind of request you picked, never your name, email, or message.

PostHog stores this data in the United States. We keep it for as long as it helps us understand how the site is used, within the limits of our PostHog plan. Before October 2026 we used a different analytics service, Umami, for the same purpose, and we moved that history into PostHog.

When you contact us

What you send us comes to our team.

The contact page opens your email app with a message filled in from what you entered. Nothing is sent until you send it. When you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply and follow up.

Please do not send us information about the people you serve. We do not need it, and this website never asks for it.

If your program is listed

We keep the work details programs publish.

Our product is information about community programs, not people. For each program we keep the names and work contact details that providers publish, and notes from our calls with provider staff to check a listing. Our Privacy & security page has more about what we hold.

Hosting

The site is served by Amazon Web Services.

Amazon Web Services delivers this website, and it handles your IP address to send each page to you. We have not turned on access logging, so we do not keep a record of individual page requests.

Your choices

You can turn analytics off.

Analytics is on unless you turn it off. Choose Decline in the notice at the bottom of the page, or use the control below at any time. Declining stops analytics in this browser and removes the PostHog cookie and storage entry. We save your choice in your browser's storage so we don't ask again; clearing your browser's site data resets it.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as declining, and analytics stays off unless you turn it on here.

Questions and requests

Ask us about your information.

To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email hello@wearecommonlight.com.

If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
